Arts Education

At Learning Community Charter School, we view arts education as the best way to deepen our students' understanding of academics, the world around them, and their own identities. Beginning in grades K-5, students engage weekly in music, art, and dance courses developing their creativity and expression. By 4th grade, students can join our instrumental music and band program. In grades 6-8, students expand their artistic skills by learning from professional artists in our performing arts workshops (PAW), taking classes like Afro-Caribbean drumming, drama, playwriting, guitar, hip hop, and modern dance. Our concerts and performances highlight students' individuality and creativity, and our belief that an arts-centered education develops their self-expression and their understanding of the world.
