Special Education

Our Special Education Program Director designs, monitors, and coordinates LEA procedures for Individualized Educational plans (IEPs) and 504s. She assures that these procedures comply with state and federal regulations with regard to special education services for children with disabilities.

Our Pre-K Intervention & Referral Services Coordinator helps with monitors and maintains intervention plans.

Our Occupational Therapist supports the development of the underlying foundational skills (body functions and structures) that influence learning and behavior. She also scaffolds students participation in educational activities to address meaningful and relevant educational outcomes.

Our Speech & Language Pathologist specializes in identifying, diagnosing, and offering speech language therapy to students who have communication disorders.

Our Behaviorist addresses disruptive behavior across different settings using a range of strategies aimed at helping students manage and improve their behavior.

Our school nurse determines the needs of a student with health or developmental problems and helps to lay out the plan for the IEP that can include adaptations and modification needed.

Our K-5 Structured Literacy teacher enhances literacy skills by offering additional instruction to students who have difficulty with reading and writing. Additionally, she works to elevate school-wide literacy by providing training and support to other teachers.

Our Literacy Specialist enhances students' reading and writing abilities by offering supplemental instruction to those who struggle. She also contributes to improving school-wide literacy by providing training and support to other teachers.

Our Math Specialist delivers rigorous and engaging instruction for students who need extra support or additional challenges. She also plans and coordinates the efforts of others involved in providing mathematics interventions.

LCCS is committed to supporting children with special needs through our Project Child Find initiative. Each year, we aim to identify students in PreK4 through 8th grade who may be at risk for learning disabilities. Children showing developmental delays in language, cognition, physical, or emotional development may qualify for public school services. If your child is identified as potentially eligible, LCCS will conduct an evaluation. Eligible children are entitled to receive free and appropriate special education programming and related services.If you have concerns about your child’s development or need more information, please contact our social worker.
