Social Justice
At the heart of our mission lies a commitment to social justice, community, and advocacy, drawing strength from our diverse community in its broadest sense. We guide students through age-appropriate exploration of various aspects of identity- encompassing race, ethnicity, socioeconomics, belief systems, gender, sexual orientation, family dynamics, abilities, and learning preferences.
Our efforts are centered on fostering positive identity development among students, families, and faculty, ensuring that they see themselves represented within our community. This approach cultivates advocates for social justice and allies in building an inclusive environment. Through these endeavors, we strive to contribute positively to the broader society we inhabit.
Faculty Affinity Groups
Our faculty-led affinity groups embrace and honor the diversity of identities and experiences that enrich our community. These groups foster social connections, offer professional development opportunities, and provide networking opportunities for our staff. Additionally, faculty affinity groups raise awareness and advocate for issues valued by our staff, contributing to our diversity initiatives in recruitment, leadership, education, and community outreach.
BIPOC Leadership Committee
Our faculty-led BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) committee conducts teacher training on topics such as microaggressions, privilege, addressing current events in the classroom, and incorporating culturally diverse texts.
