 Colin Hogan

Colin Hogan is Head of School at Learning Community Charter School.  From 2010-2013 he was the Social Studies Coordinator for the Highland Park School District.  He taught 6th grade history in Highland Park from 2004-2010.  Prior to coming to Highland Park Mr. Hogan taught at Princeton Charter School.  Mr. Hogan began his career in education in 1999 teaching at the Academy of Communications and Technology and at the Bernard Zell Anshe Emet Day School in Chicago.  He has won numerous awards for teaching and was recognized as New Jersey History Teacher of the Year in 2013. In 2017, the New Jersey Charter Schools Association named him top Administrator of the Year. 

Before becoming a teacher he worked as a community organizer in both Israel and New York City.  Mr. Hogan earned his Bachelor of Arts in History at Indiana University, pursued graduate studies in Early Adolescent Education at Bank Street College of Education, and at the NJExcel program.  Mr. Hogan currently serves as President-Elect of the Kean University Diversity Council.

Ricky likes belly rubs and steak and is a graduate of Petco University's Good Canine Citizen program. When he's not reading with students or attending administration meetings he likes to bark at bicycles.

Mr. Melendez is the Dean of Students at Learning Community Charter School. He joined LCCS in 2011 as an Elementary Physical Education teacher. Mr. Melendez graduated from Montclair State University with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education and Health. He is certified through the New Jersey Department of Education to serve as our School Safety Specialist. Mr. Melendez is also our Anti-Bullying Specialist and received certification through the NJPSA. 

In 2012, Mr. Melendez spearheaded the start of the LCCS athletics program by helping to launch the boys and girls basketball teams. For the past eight years, Mr. Melendez has been the Head Coach for our Middle School Boys basketball team who won the 2019 Charter School Athletic League Championship. He is a licensed coach through the USA basketball coaching academy.  Since 2014, Mr. Melendez has been on the Hoboken High School coaching staff where he is currently serving as the Head Coach of the Girls Varsity Basketball program. 

As a restorative practitioner trained through the International Institute of Restorative practices, Mr. Melendez believes that
functioning from a restorative mindset requires that student behavior be thoughtfully handled in a way that respects all community members as human beings and conflicts as learning opportunities. Currently, Mr. Melendez is pursuing a Master of Arts degree in Educational Leadership at Saint Peter’s University.

Ms. Antczak is the Assistant Head of School at Learning Community Charter School. She joined LCCS in 2017 as a third grade teacher. Throughout her time at LCCS, Ms. Antczak served as the Distance Learning Coordinator for families during the COVID-19 Pandemic. She also served as one the the Student Council coordinators for students in grades 6-8. Ms. Antczak enjoys sharing her knowledge with all the students and staff at LCCS.
